Heritage Works/Refurbishment

Situated in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, Transport House is one of the oldest commercial government buildings. Built during the Depression, it had been left vacant for over thirty years. Belmadar was engaged to refurbish the building. It now houses 7,000 square metres of floor space with an ABGR of 4.5. The four major elements of the work carried out were; demolition and hazardous material removal, installation of all new services, facade and window restoration, which required fixing the sandstone facade back to the structure and restoration of the various heritage fabrics within the building. The strict heritage guidelines made materials handling around the building extremely challenging.
